Mission Without Borders (MWB) is an international network of Christians who journey with the poor and marginalized, bringing practical and spiritual support with hope of a better future, enabling and encouraging people to lift themselves out of poverty, always sharing the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. Our Vision is to see lives transformed, across generations, with hope for the future.

This new role as Country Director (Denmark) has come about because of the planned establishment of a MWB fundraising entity in Denmark.

MWB International leads and co-ordinates the work of six countries in Eastern Europe where we carry out our project work, and 12 countries (including Denmark) where we raise support.  An international staff team supports this work in terms of leadership, strategy development, best practise, fundraising, communications, finance and IT.

The overarching governing body is the International Board of MWB, but the soon to be established Danish board will be the first level governing body responsible for ensuring MWB in Denmark meets relevant regulations in Denmark and continues to fulfil its charitable objectives.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • To develop and lead the Danish team strategically and maximise the generation of funds required for the work of the organization - MWB expect a staff in Denmark of up to 5 (in due course)
  • To lead and direct the Danish fundraising office of MWB
  • To recruit, develop and manage a team of fundraising staff and supporting administration staff
  • To develop and strengthen the profile and awareness of MWB and its mission in the Danish donor market, particularly among Christian donors


The responsibilities are:

  • Provide strategic vision, leadership energy, guidance and advice to enable the Mission to grow significantly and maximize its fundraising income in Denmark within the global strategy set
  • To develop strategy in Denmark and the activities of the Mission under the guidance and management of the CEO International and International Director of Fundraising and Communications
  • To identify and grow new sources of income in Denmark from individuals, major donors, churches, trusts, corporate etc.
  • To develop sound and long-lasting relationships to donors and to envision and take responsibility for appeals, communications to donors to build the MWB brand in Denmark
  • To develop together with the CEO International a 5 year strategic business plan and to implement the plan
  • To be responsible for the preparation and management of financial reporting, regular reports and all regulatory reporting matters
  • To represent the Mission to the public and media, together with the International CEO of MWB
  • To manage the efficient running of the office and develop the staff of the office
  • To be responsible and undertake all necessary actions to ensure MWB meets its financial, legal and regulatory compliance requirements, including relations to banks and auditors
  • To monitor fundraising initiatives to ensure projected return on costs is maximized whilst complying with Danish fundraising regulations
  • To ensure the office always complies with internal controls and policies and to submit the office to periodic compliance and innovation reviews


PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

The following experiences are preferred:

  • Proven success in a range of fundraising disciplines and initiatives
  • Experience of the charities sector and an understanding of charity law and regulations
  • Excellent management skills
  • A sound knowledge of budget and report preparation
  • An excellent standard of written and spoken English and be able to communicate effectively with a range of people
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Calm and adaptable personality with an ability to work within a flexible and busy environment
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Ability to anticipate and problem solve high levels of tact, diplomacy, discretion and ability to demonstrate absolute respect for the confidentiality of information
  • Excellent Communicator with the ability to influence others and communicate the vision and objectives of MWB in multiple and varied environments ranging from churches to corporates, to trusts etc.
  • An understanding of working for an organisation with a geographically disparate workforce
  • High level ICT skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other IT packages including data bases and OneDrive
  • An excellent standard of written and spoken English and be able to communicate effectively with a range of people
